“A size 10 is too big, and an 8 is too small. So I don’t buy clothes at all.” -Sally Turner
The number one complaint I hear from women is “I’m waiting to lose weight before I buy anything.” Why do we feel we must look ‘skinny’ before dressing well?
This month, I encourage all women to dress for their body shape and size TODAY. When you dress smart, you project a different presence. People will notice. You will get compliments. When I work with clients who tell me they want to lose weight before buying anything new, I look them straight in the eye and say, “Don’t wait. Losing weight is a slow, healthy process. It takes time, discipline.” Instead, I challenge them to dress well NOW. Dress for your size TODAY. It will make you want to start that diet because of the confidence boost it will bring.
And then we get to work creating 5 different outfits – one outfit a day for a week. I challenge them to dress really well for the next 5 days to see if they notice a difference in how others treat them, the compliments they get and their own confidence level. Without fail, they feel better about themselves. During a recent re-cap session with a client, the positive feedback she was getting from her co-workers inspired her to the point she enrolled herself in a weight loss program. “I want to continue on this positive trajectory! You told me not to wait, and hiring you was the first step towards my health.” Voila! A chain-reaction!
Bottom Line: dress well for your body size and shape TODAY. Don’t wait to lose weight! Dress your best, no matter your size, then tackle your health goals with confidence.
